How is it that we people can make so many things in science and engineering like build spaceships,make robots, clone animals, were coming closes to cloning organs, make an atom smasher!!! etc etc.. but yet we can not find a simple alternative for gasoline….we can make a freakin atom smasher but we cant even make a simple full electric car engine yet ?!?!?!?!?
All alternatives to oil cost more. The recent price increases will change that. But why would someone pay $40,000 for an electric car that can only go 50 miles when gas is $1.00 a gallon. Now that gas is $4.00 they are working on batteries that will last longer. And people are less afraid of Nuclear which will be necessary to charge all those batteries. Wind, solar and geothermal are all possible,but more expensive, but they will not provide enough power to replace coal and oil in power plants. So you can see it is more complex than you thought, but it appears that finally the government is taking an interest.
